The HERN project website is intended to provide access to both the processes and the products of the project.
It was not an easy project to undertake because of the enormous scope of the objectives and also the rapidly changing nature of the landscape of European higher education. In almost every area the results were far from conclusive and often contradictory, depending upon the point of view taken. While this does not provide a neat answer for either academics or politicians wanting to find a simple conception of "European HE" it does provide many insights into the difficulties faced by anyone trying to find a straightforward answer to any simple question about HE across the expanding European community.
