Workpackage 12: Guidance for employment and inclusion: the development of new competencies
Objectives
To make theoretical comparisons about different values and approaches to guidance in HE in relation to developing new sets of additional competencies for lifelong learning
To offer new perspectives on case studies of strategies for preparing diverse students for the labour market
To contribute to innovative ideas for ways of enhancing employment prospects for students from diverse backgrounds
To contribute to end of year policy briefing paper for the influence of future policy on guidance for employment and access
To develop an interactive CD ROM to disseminate results of all workpackages
Description of work
Month 33: CZ will liaise with partners over publicity and plans for steering group meeting, seminar, presentations, analytical strategies and follow up website discussion
Month 34
: CZ hosts steering group meeting and one-day seminar. Partners produce presentations and papers for analytical discussion and contribute ideas for discussion on future collaborations
Month 35
: UK-SRHE produces a time-limited website discussion to explore outstanding policy issues relating to guidance and access. LV develops interactive CD ROM to disseminate main results of all workpackages.
Month 36
: partners prepare conference paper and brief guide to policy chapter on student diversity, distance learning and guidance.

Expected results
The workpackage will provide:
policy makers, professionals and academics with comparative and innovative perspectives on ways in which HE can provide relevant guidance and student support to diverse students in different social and political contexts.
a framework for the network participants to consider future research collaborations and policy issues in the area of student support and guidance and employability.
